F-35 Joint Strike Fighter
The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, a next-generation combat aircraft currently under development for the US Department of Defense and other global military organizations, will take to the skies fully loaded with advanced technology from Alcoa.
Alcoa Howmet Castings is developing seven new components for JSF contractor Honeywell International. These new castings will support Honeywell's Thermal Power Management System for the JSF. In addition to the Honeywell order, Howmet has also been awarded sole-source contracts with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for all six of the turbine airfoils in the JSF main engine.
Many components of the JSF will also use advanced new fasteners and fluid-fitting designs from Alcoa Fastening Systems that are stronger, lighter, and quicker to install.
