Endsheet alloys
Endsheets are added to plate fin heat exchangers for protection from damage, and to increase strength for burst and pressure cycle resistance. They are typically made from standard 3000 series alloys. Alcoa has a new approach to endsheets, using our 037X family of alloys that realizes a 30% gain in yield strength without sacrificing brazability or corrosion resistance. The higher strength endsheets can be used to reduce damaged parts, or even for gage reduction.
