Alcoa Named to Top 100 Multinational List in China

Alcoa has been named one of the Top 100 multinational corporations operating in China in an award based on an evaluation system that considers a broad range of corporate social responsibility indicators.

The award is sponsored by the China Enterprise News, China Enterprise CSR Research Center, China Enterprise Confederation, World Business Council for Sustainability, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and China Association of Enterprise with Foreign Investment.  It was presented to Alcoa Inc. and Asia Pacific President Jinya Chen, who was also invited to give keynote remarks on behalf of all award winners. The ceremony was held Jan. 15 in Beijing.

“We are very proud to be recognized by the Chinese people and business leaders as one of the best performing multinationals in China.  This is recognition of Alcoa’s Values and Alcoans’ commitment to excellence wherever Alcoa operates.  We stick to Alcoa’s Values and are glad to see Alcoa’s Values become more and more recognized and accepted globally,” Chen said at the ceremony.

The system covers a number of areas, including corporate governance and ethical values, employment and the protection of the rights and interests of employees, environmental protection, energy saving and emission reduction,  social responsibility and corporate image.

A total of 1,500 corporations completed a detailed questionnaire and were then evaluated through a process that included internet voting and a final evaluation by a panel of leaders from government, media and industry.

Alcoa was ranked 36th on the list of 100.
