Ferrari 612 Scaglietti: Love at First Drive

In 1954, Italian film director Roberto Rossellini commissioned Ferrari to create a special a gift of elegance, passion and style for the love of his life, movie star Ingrid Bergman. The car was long, low, sleek and sexy. Bergman hated it, but history loved it.

The car's classic shape was an inspiration for the all-new 612 Scaglietti, Ferrari's new 2+2 GT model, due in showrooms this fall. The 612 Scaglietti is Ferrari's first 12-cylinder, 4-seat car to use the aluminum spaceframe design pioneered with Alcoa in Ferrari's 360 Modena, an 8-cylinder 2-seater. Using aluminum instead of steel let Ferrari make the Scaglietti longer, taller and more comfortable for four adult passengers than anything else in its class -- without sacrificing Ferrari's breathtaking performance.

The automotive press is now getting its hands on the 612 Scaglietti, opening it up on test tracks, highways and Italian country roads.

And from what they're saying in magazines and on the Web, the love is back.
