| Alcoa Fujikura in Mexico Wins the Second Top VW Group Award br> |

Puebla, MexicoOctober 16, 2002In just one year after acquiring the VW Electrical Distribution System (EDS) business from Siemens, Alcoa Fujikura Ltd. (AFL) has won the second Volkswagen Group's prestigious Entrepreneurial Performance award. The presentation of the 2002 award was made in Puebla, Mexico by Reinhard Jung, President Volkswagen de Mexico, and Francisco Garcia Sanz, VW AG board member in charge of procurement. The award acknowledges AFL's achievements in the seamless integration of this business into AFL while delivering continuing improvements in quality and service to the German automaker in Mexico. The first Group Award was received this year in Europe.
In receiving the award, Robert T. Alexander, President of AFL Worldwide Automotive, commented: "AFL is very proud to be recognized by Volkswagen of Mexico with this prestigious award. We have worked very hard to improve the newly acquired operations in Puebla and our efforts are paying off in an excellent fashion. This success is a credit to the entire AFL automotive team and to the support and guidance provided by Volkswagen of Mexico."
A supplier to the majority of the world's automobile companies, AFL provides wiring harnesses to VW Group's plants for: the New Beetle, New Beetle Cabrio and Jetta models manufactured and delivered in Puebla, Mexico; the Golf model in Brussels, Belgium; Sharan, Alhambra and Galaxy models produced in Palmela, Portugal. Additionally, the company supplies electrical systems for the T4 model at VW's Hanover plant and the A6 model at Audi's Neckarsulm operation, both in Germany, as well as for most other VW Group models.
