Appointment - Martin Brière - President, Alcoa Canada Global Primary Products

Alcoa Canada Global Primary Products (GPP Canada) is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Brière as President. Mr. Brière assumed his new functions on August 1.

In Quebec, GPP Canada is made up of the Baie-Comeau, Deschambault, and Bécancour smelters, as well as the Bécancour Rod Plant. Alcoa Canada also operates processing plants serving the aerospace, automobile, and construction industries. It has facilities in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and Louisiana, in the United States.
Martin Brière started his career at Alcoa in 2007 as Manager, Engineering and Maintenance, at the Bécancour Smelter. He took the helm of the Deschambault Smelter in 2010 before being appointed Vice President, Operations, GPP Canada in March 2012. Prior to joining Alcoa, Mr. Brière held various engineering and management positions at Corus S.E.C. and Duchesne et Fils Ltée. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from McGill University.
In Quebec, Alcoa Canada operates four primary aluminum production plants with an annual production capacity of more than one million metric tons of ingots, castings, billets, and aluminium rod. Alcoa employs more than 3,000 people and its activities generate more than $1.3 billion dollars in economic spin-offs annually in Quebec.
