APPOINTMENT New General Managers for Deschambault and Bécancour Smelters

Montréal, February 8, 2010 – Alcoa Canada President Pierre Morin is pleased to announce the appointment of new general managers for the Deschambault and Bécancour smelters. Pierre Lapointe is appointed General Manager of the Bécancour Smelter (ABI) and Martin Brière will hold the position of General Manager of the Alcoa Deschambault Smelter.

Prior to this appointment, Pierre Lapointe was Manager of the Deschambault Smelter and has accepted to take up his new challenge at ABI with enthusiasm. ‘‘During the past twenty years at the Deschambault Smelter, I have gained valuable experience that will allow me to achieve great things with the ABI team,’’ said Mr. Lapointe. Until recently, Martin Brière worked at ABI as Manager Carbon, Engineering and Maintenance, and is very pleased with his appointment as General Manager of the Alcoa Deschambault Smelter. "This new position is very stimulating because I know I am joining a team with whom it will be possible to undertake great projects that will help grow the organization," said Mr. Brière. "With these recent appointments, effective immediately, I am confident that Alcoa Canada Primary Products will successfully meet the ambitious goals set for 2010 and the coming years,’’ concluded President Pierre Morin.
