At Alcoa, our health and safety target is zero work-related injuries and illnesses. As a result, we put every effort into building a strong health and safety culture, in optimizing our programs and ensuring they are sustainable.
Our joint health and safety committees bring together representatives of all our employees. In accordance with Québec occupational health and safety laws, these committees ensure that all employees are involved in the health and safety and prevention programs in each of our facilities. This program encompasses, among other things, the choice and use of personal protective equipment, and risk identification and control.
Particular attention is paid to preventing incidents resulting in mortalities. Despite the many programs in place across our plants, two such incidents occurred in 2015. Our teams are working harder than ever to ensure that such tragedies don’t happen again.
