Result of our 2008 Goals — Economic Development
  
Objective: Provide technical support to small and medium-sized enterprises in developing expertise and innovations in aluminum products (Alcoa Innovation).
Results:
  • Reached, Alcoa Innovation launched in the Fall of 2008.

Objective: Establish a system for evaluating suppliers according to criteria of sustainable development, and define an approach to help them progress in this regard.
Results:
  • A proposed evaluation grid has been developed. Work will continue in 2009.

Objective: Launch a competition for the development of aluminum products designed to meet ecological criteria.
Results:
Reached, a contest was launched in 2008; the winner announced in May 2009

Objective: Sign an agreement with the Government of Québec for the expansion of the Deschambault Smelter.
Results:
  • Negotiations will continue in 2009.
