Procurement — Approach
Procurement at Alcoa is a global function focused on delivering solutions that drive increasing, sustainable value to our businesses and communities. Since 2001, we have worked to transform our procurement from a location-based organization to world-class global supply management. To this end, we have established a foundation of core strategies, processes, human resources training, tools, measures, and support for suppliers that allow us to leverage opportunities on a local, regional, and global basis.
We also aim to embed sustainability in our procurement process. Upon the recommendation of our Sustainability Advisory Committee, we will, in 2008, be working to develop a grading scheme for selecting suppliers and tracking their progress.
