Local Benefits — Approach
A continuing and long-term investment In 2008, a significant portion of Alcoa Canada Primary Metals’ $3.4 billion in revenues was injected into public coffers and into the local economy. In total, $1.6 billion was paid in taxes, wages, or for the purchase of goods and services. The following are the economic spin-offs generated by each of our plants, excluding taxes:
- Baie-Comeau Smelter:
$630 million, including $277 million in the Baie-Comeau region - Bécancour Smelter (ABI):
$518 million, including $225 million in the Bécancour region - Deschambault Smelter:
$361 million, including $111 million in Portneuf County - Bécancour Rod Plant:
$36 million, including $16 million in the Bécancour region
