Alcoa Foundation Overview
Alcoa Foundation is a separately constituted not-for-profit U.S. corporate foundation with assets of approximately US$534 million (CA$622.2 million*). Its mission is to actively invest in the quality of life in communities worldwide where Alcoa has a presence. Since its inception more than 50 years ago, the Foundation has been a source of positive community change and enhancement, with nearly US$437 million (CA$509.2 million*) invested since 1952.
 
Alcoa Foundation’s global and local grantmaking is responsive to the needs and aspirations of communities and marshals the combined expertise, energies, and values of Alcoa and Alcoa Foundation to provide a world-class standard of excellence in corporate citizenship.
 
In 2006, Alcoa Foundation awarded more than US$26 million (CA$30.3 million*) in grants around the world.. Through disaster relief grants and employee volunteer initiatives, like the ACTION and Bravo! programs, additional resources are made available to the surrounding communities. Alcoa Foundation also supports a range of national, international, and policy organizations that address priority societal and global issues which align with its Areas of Excellence.
 
IN CANADA
In Canada, Alcoa Foundation awarded more than US$1.1 million (CA$1.2 million*) in grants in 2006. In addition, to encourage employees to volunteer their services as part of the ACTION and Bravo! programs, we distributed an information document in
each of our facilities during the Worldwide Month of Service.
