Alcoa Canada Primary Products fosters success of volunteer grassroots Think Climate initiative

Alcoa Canada Primary Products has been a strategic partner since 2008 of a group of volunteers aiming to increase awareness, inform and mobilize Quebecers to immediately reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. The Think Climate© initiative offers a number of tools to help fulfil its mission, including free lectures, a website and a public declaration.

The involvement of Alcoa Canada Primary Products prompted other partners to add their support, which has enabled the presentation of more than 40 free lectures at about 30 public and private organizations in 12 of the 17 administrative regions of Québec. In addition, over 4,000 individuals from 25 countries have consulted the website more than once. Over 2,500 people have thus far attended lectures, some 20 of which were given in support of corporate initiatives surrounding the province’s Défi Climat (Climate Challenge) spring campaign.

Alcoa Canada Primary Products also hosted and promoted five lectures that attracted 175 people in three Québec regions. Finally, every week, people from throughout Québec proudly stand behind the Think Climate© public declaration to encourage others to act. The work of the dedicated Think Climate© management team is based on The Climate Project Canada™ philosophy, as its founder, Gérard Croteau, is among the select group of Canadians trained by Al Gore and scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
