2010 — Community
2,000 volunteers in ACTION in our region during Alcoa’s Worldwide Month of Service
During the weekend of October 2, 3 and 4, 2009, a total of 10 volunteer initiatives were carried out by Alcoa employees in different communities across Canada and in Iceland. Together, roughly 300 volunteers offered over 1,000 hours of their time to support ten not-for-profit organizations. And Alcoa’s Month of Service, which is held every month of October, has only just begun.
The active participation of employees in the Centraide 2009 campaign, the organization of a blood drive, the completion of ACTION programs, registration in the Bravo! program, and the recognition of volunteer services offered by Alcoa employees are a few concrete examples of the activities in which over 2,000 employees throughout Canada took part during the month.
“The Month of Service reflects our unfailing determination to add true value to what we do. Thanks to our people, their team spirit and their passion, community service has become more than a value at Alcoa: it’s a way of life,” said Pierre Morin, President of Alcoa Canada.
