2007 ABS Conference: hats off to innovation
The second edition of the ABS Conference has illustrated, once again, the ingenuity of the people at Alcoa Canada when they tackle the issue of quality.
The event unfolded in a “western” atmosphere under the banner Coup de chapeau à l’innovation!and focussed on three main objectives: to emphasize all efforts aiming the integration of the four Alcoa Canada Primary Metals plants into one sole enterprise, to pool together exceptional ABS projects on a regional scale, and to provide opportunities for people to meet and know each other better.
During the three days of the conference, participants from all of the plants attended 21 presentations on the projects selected by the ABS experts of Alcoa Canada Primary Metals as projects constituting the best examples of the implementation of this approach. In addition, every group hosted a stand at which the participants could obtain further in-depth information on the various projects between the presentation sessions.
Since exchanging in an informal atmosphere was also part of the main objectives, the conference was more than instructive and enriching, it was also fun. The participants were given the opportunity to know each other better during the banquet, the show and the very popular western dance course!
The special guests, including Jean-Pierre Gilardeau, President of Alcoa Canada, and John Marushin, Director of Operations Management Consulting, who is also in charge of the Alcoa Business System (the famous ABS) for Alcoa Inc., all underlined their pride in these teams and their impressive work.
