Scope of the report and GRI index

Alcoa Canada Global Primary Products’ Sustainability Report is published and updated every year on the Alcoa Canada website. The “Outlook on Sustainability 2010” document presents the highlights of 2010. The data relates to the operations of Alcoa Canada Global Primary Products in Québec, namely the Baie-Comeau, Bécancour and Deschambault smelters, as well as the Bécancour Rod Plant and the Montréal Head Office. The Lake Charles Plant in Louisiana in the U.S. is not included in this report due to the major differences in its production and regulatory context compared to our Québec facilities. Data on Lake Charles is therefore disclosed by Alcoa Inc.

While the Bécancour Smelter (ABI) is owned at 74.95% by Alcoa and 25.05% by Rio Tinto Alcan, Alcoa Canada Global Primary Products incorporates 100% of the facility’s activities in its sustainability report. The front-end activities (bauxite mining, alumina production) and back-end activities (aluminum processing for various markets) of our Québec operations are controlled by our parent company, Alcoa Inc., and are presented in its sustainability report.

Alcoa employs various internal standards and data collection systems, in addition to rigorous auditing processes. The data relating to our greenhouse gas emissions inventory, as well as our financial results, are audited by independent third parties.

Alcoa complies with external data disclosure standards, including the Carbon Disclosure Project and GRI protocols for various indicators. We also meet all regulatory requirements.
