Sustainability Approach
At Alcoa, sustainability is defined as using our values to build financial success, environmental excellence, and social responsibility through partnerships in order to deliver long-term benefits to our shareowners, employees, customers, suppliers, and the communities in which we operate.
In 2009, Alcoa developed a new sustainability approach that views the issue from three different but interdependent lenses: Products, Resources and Operations. Our goals are to optimize the social value of our products, use resources in a sustainable manner, and minimize the environmental and social footprints of our operations. We have set Strategic Objectives in each of these areas.
Our Sustainability website reflects this new approach, although most of our information is found under Operations due to our focus on primary aluminum production.
