March 4, 2008 Baie-Comeau, March 4, 2008 – Mr. Jean Charest, Prime Minister of Québec, and Mr. Alain Belda, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Alcoa, concluded a historic agreement this morning in Baie-Comeau. This agreement will oversee the company’s development in Québec until at least 2040, and will contribute to the economic development of Québec over the same horizon.

Alcoa Launches its 2008 Advertising Campaign


February 11, 2008 Montréal, February 11, 2008 – Today, Alcoa is launching its advertising campaign on the large television networks of Québec. Beginning on this 11th of February, a new message will be aired for the first time, namely during the soaps Rumeurs on the CBC’s French television network and Annie et ses hommes on the TVA network. The 60-second clip, called Aluminum is people (Échelle humaine), will be broadcast in French and in English until April 6, 2008.

September 6, 2007 As part of the festivities marking the 50th anniversary of the Alcoa Baie-Comeau Smelter, Alcoa Foundation President Meg McDonald and Smelter General Manager Pierre Morin today announced an investment of $1 million towards construction of an arts and culture centre and setting up of an arts exhibition hall in Baie-Comeau. This is the largest donation by the Alcoa Foundation in Canada.

July 28, 2006 Alcoa Canada and the Alcoa Foundation recently signed a three-year agreement with the Musée de la civilisation de Québec. To celebrate this innovative new partnership, the President of the Alcoa Foundation, Ms. Meg McDonald, and the President of Alcoa Canada, Mr. Jean-Pierre Gilardeau, unveiled an impressive aluminum ingot, almost eight metres in length, installed on the square of the Musée and serving as a public bench for its visitors.

Alcoa Canada Primary Metals (ACPM) is made up of the Baie-Comeau, Bécancour and Deschambault smelters, as well as the Bécancour Rod Plant. These four plants, all of which are ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certified, have an annual production capacity of over one million metric tons of ingots, castings, billets and aluminum rods.
