Alcoa Architectural Products in Merxheim, France scored Olympic gold in the transformation of an Italian landmark into a 2006 Olympic Winter Games arena that will be used for skating competitions during the upcoming Olympics. Alcoa Architectural Products partnered with world-renowned architect Gae Aulenti to transform the landmark Palavela complex in Turin, Italy into the 2006 Olympic arena by using 15,000 sqm of Reynobond® to clad the building's monumental ceiling. The Palavela was originally built for the 1961 Expo in Turin to celebrate the centennial of Italy's unification. Reynobond was chosen for the project because of its high-quality and ability to absorb noise and vibrations. The arena will be used Feb. 10-26 for the figure skating and short track speed skating competitions.
