Alcoa’s Alfil Series and R System surpass the energy efficiency requirements imposed by the EU
Proper thermal insulation of a building’s shell enables a significant reduction in energy consumption needs, and that is where Alcoa’s metallic carpentry – Alfil and R System – play a very important role, since their thermal barriers limit heat loss or gain and their transmittance values are lower than the maximum allowed for the 5 climate zones into which Spain’s geography has been divided, according to the criteria set forth in the new standard.

Once more, Alcoa is ready to offer professionals in this sector – through its network of distributors – products with certified quality in their design, specifications and compliance with current and future standards, thanks to the versatility and technological capability of the world leader of the aluminum sector.

The New Building Code, which regulates what has been set forth by the Construction Management Law and Directive 2002/91/CE that updates and completes the basic requirements that buildings must meet, sets the obligations of the various agents participating in the construction process, their responsibilities and the guarantees to be given to users.

Community law grants significant importance to the reduction of energy consumption and thermal insulation in order to optimize the rational use of the energy needed to utilize the building adequately. In this regard, the main elements of architectural enclosure – mainly doors and windows – are the key protagonists, as well as the quality of the materials and the design employed in these elements. Under this directive, all European Union countries must apply a common methodology to calculate a building’s energy efficiency, bearing in mind the local climate conditions.

Buildings shall have a set of characteristics that will limit the energy demand needed to achieve thermal well-being as a function of the local climate, the building’s use and the summer and winter weather patterns, as well as their characteristics of insulation and inertia, air permeability and exposure to solar radiation.

Alcoa’s advantages

The advantages of genuine Alcoa products must be added to the qualities shown by aluminum in the construction process – its weight-mechanical resistance ratio, decorative appearance, fire resistance, ease of mechanization and the fact of being a one hundred per cent recyclable product – without running the risk of having them mistaken for imitations, thanks to the clearly identifiable marks on the polyamides of the new Alfil series and R System products.

Alcoa Extrusión en España’s customer service and product quality is based on t experience, professionalism and available resources, which allow for:
  • Offering a wide range of solutions that enable architects and window manufacturers to develop any project in which the Alfil series and R System are employed in the aluminum.
  • Product guaranteed throughout its entire traceability, from bauxite extraction to the assembled profile. Alcoa is the world leader in aluminum and it controls all key steps of aluminum processing: from the mine to assembly, all with the Alcoa seal!

Alcoa – with Authenticity Seal

Alcoa Extrusión en España’s commitment to the market is determined, in the words of its general manager, Ignacio Santamaría: “by our responsibility to offer a product that is ahead of the market’s needs and our high commitment to quality. Therefore, we're pleased that our heat bridge breakdown systems of the Alfil series and R System have again become yardsticks in the construction market. Their transmittance “U” values are lower than the maximum values of the 5 climate zones and are also a product marked with the Alcoa seal, which will allow the window builder and the end customer to distinguish our product and be confident that it has been manufactured under Alcoa’s parameters and controls, being the only company in our country that controls all of the key manufacturing processes of our product from bauxite to assembly, and always bearing the Alcoa seal!”
