Alcoa is figures prominently among Brazil’s 50 + Hi-Tech Companies

First-ever survey by magazine, Época Negócios, evaluated 500 large companies that use information technology: on the general list Alcoa appears in 9th place

Alcoa is one of Brazil’s 50 + Hi-Tech Companies, according to Época Negócios magazine, published by Editora Globo (October, 2009). The survey, which was carried out for the first time and in partnership with consultancy company Accenture, places the Company in a position of prominence. In the general list, which includes both Brazilian companies and multinationals that operate in Brazil, Alcoa was in 9th place.

This ranking was prepared on the basis of 31 questions that were sent to 500 large IT users. These questions evaluated, among other things, innovation and investment in IT. The data were tabulated using a methodology that established weights for each item and that ranged from the total amount invested in innovation relative to revenue, to the use of Web 2.0 and computing in the cloud. Not included in this ranking were companies that did not provide information about the amount invested in IT in 2009 and technology provider companies.
