Alcoa announces 150 vacancies in its Institutional Internship Program

|
|
|
Until 16 September entries are open for Alcoa’s Institutional Internship Program. There are 150 vacancies available for training in São Paulo (capital and the Greater São Paulo region), Itapissuma (PE), Tubarão (SC), São Luís (MA), Juruti(PA) and Poços de Caldas (MG).
Registrations are open to university students on Physical Sciences and Humanities courses who will graduate between December/2010 and December/2011, have a knowledge of English (other languages will be a differentiating factor) and the Office software package and are available for at least 20 hours a week. Among the benefits being offered are a maintenance grant, health insurance, travel vouchers or automobile parking facility, meal vouchers or a canteen, personal accident insurance and paid leave. Those interested should register on the Company’s website at www.alcoa.com.br.
In addition to the traditional internship that lasts from one to two years the company is also offering six-month internships for students from teaching institutions who have this amount of time available to dedicate exclusively to practical activities, without attending lessons. In this particular modality, the university students will compete for vacancies in Juruti (PA), Tubarão (SC) and Poços de Caldas (MG), even if they are from other regions and the internship may start in January or July 2010. In this case, in addition to the maintenance grant and benefits Alcoa will also provide help with accommodation during the internship.
Selection The selection process will be divided into three stages. After the registrations have been completed qualitative and quantitative assessments of those who have registered will be carried out. After this, the candidates will take on-line English and logical reasoning tests during the second half of September.
Then in October and November the group dynamic exercises will begin for those selected, who will also have to write an essay. During this stage the students will also have the opportunity of getting to know the positions and the activity areas available. They will also have an interview with the managers of the area they choose. Those who pass will be informed in December and the internship is planned to start in January 2010. At the end of the program a career committee will analyze the possibility of hiring the participants as fulltime employees.
Alcoa’s Institutional Internship Program is aligned with the Company’s sustainability strategies. The objective is to identify the talented individuals who may become future fulltime employees and who can build a solid career within the Company. In addition to face-to-face and distance training the young interns will take part in the Continuing Education Module. These are talks given by internal leaders aimed at broadening knowledge of the Company’s business.
Interns are encouraged to plan and hold monthly forums to deal with themes that contribute to their professional formation and encourage development of their technical and behavioral competences.
