The Company was assessed on the requisites of Credibility, Respect, Impartiality, Pride and Comradeship; employees´ participation in the survey up from 2008

For the 9th time Alcoa has been elected one of the best companies in Brazil to work for, according to the survey “100 Best Companies to Work for - Brazil”, carried out by the Great Place to Work® Institute, published by Época magazine, from Editora Globo. The result was announced last night at the prize-giving ceremony, in São Paulo.
The study assesses employee confidence levels for the requisites Credibility, Respect, Impartiality, Pride and Comradeship; and people management practices inside the companies in nine areas: Hiring and Receiving; Inspiring; Talking; Listening; Thanking; Developing; Looking after; Celebrating and Sharing. The methodology was based on two assessments: one involving employees, who completed a questionnaire comprising 57 items and two open questions, in which the company’s main strengths and opportunities for improvement are highlighted. The other analysis, indicating people management practices, was carried out with the company itself.
In its 13th edition, the national survey received 530 entries from companies who took part in the selection process of the studies “Best Companies to Work for – Brazil”, “Best Companies to Work for – IT & Telecom” and “Best Companies to Work for – Rio de Janeiro”. More than one million employees took part in the analysis, an approximate increase of 20% over the previous edition. For the CEO of Great Place to Work®, Ruy Shiozawa, this growth is an indication that even in times of crisis employees give credit to the companies they know treat them with respect and transparency.
The survey result will be published in Época magazine reaching the newsstands on August 22nd and in the 2009 “100 Best Companies to Work for” Guide. Both publications will present additional information about the elected companies and will carry special content about the survey, as well as lists derived from the study.
