Alcoa inaugurates virtual visit dedicated to sustainability and the life cycle of aluminum

Audiovisual resources offered in theme rooms expand interaction with users
On its website www.alcoa.com.br Alcoa is introducing the Alcoa Space: Aluminum and Sustainability. The virtual location brings together information about the production and life cycle of aluminum, using photos, videos, panels and text. In addition to institutional information about activities of the Company that has been operating in Brazil for 44 years it’s possible to find out a little more about the characteristics of aluminum and its capacity for being recycled ad infinitim, which makes aluminum sustainability itself in metallic form.
In the Space’s nine rooms, by means of audiovisual resources, visitors will be able to check out the history of Alcoa in Brazil, the units it has in the country, its partners in sustainability projects, the self-generation of energy and its products, recognition, volunteer programs and others aspects.
“This Space shows just how strongly sustainability is integrated into the way in which Alcoa operates. Visitors will be able to find out, for example, a little more about aluminum and its characteristics; this is a metal that’s present at every moment and in every situation in our livesâ€, explains Nemércio Nogueira, director of Institutional Affairs for Alcoa Latin America and the Caribbean. “We want to share our practices by putting across information in a simple and informative mannerâ€, Nemércio says.
Sustainability is a theme that runs through all aspects of the Space. For Alcoa it translates into living its ethical values and in constructing environmental excellence, social responsibility and financial success. In 2009 the Company was named one of the most sustainable companies in the world during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland; all its global activities are guided by practices that lead to sustainability.
