The Serra do Facão Hydroelectric Power Station is located on the São Marcos River, in the sub-basin of the Paranaíba River and basin of the Paraná River
Distance from the mouth of the Paranaíba River: 55 km
Municipalities on the right bank: Catalão, Campo Alegre de Goiás, Ipameri and Cristalina, all in the State of Goiás
Municipalities on the left bank: Davinópolis and Catalão, both in Goiás, and Paracatu, in Minas Gerais
Start of the building work: February 15, 2007
Current stage of the work: the first phase is ongoing (excavation and earth-moving for constructing the coffer-dams, construction of the diversion tunnel and concreting the powerhouse and the diversion tunnel outlet).
