Alcoa in Brazil
Environmental Parks
Overview
Alumar - São Luis
Alcoa - Poços de Caldas
Alcoa - Tubarão

Alcoa acquired in 2007 April a conservation area in Tubarão, Santa Catarina, right along side the Company’s existing unit. The 12 hectare piece of land of which 85% is native virgin forest, contains 176 different botanical species,. In Santa Catarina the Company manufactures extruded and anodized aluminum products and profiles for civil construction and the furniture and automobile industry markets.

The local used to be privately-owned. Alcoa intends using the area it has just bought to establish programs linked to good environmental management practices, as well as developing educational projects on the site. The Company is looking for partners for its technological development preservation program.

This purchase will allow us to continue with the sustainability policies of Alcoa, whose main objectives are respect for the environment and partnerships with the communities where the Company operates. It is also a way of showing the Company’s values, which encourage activities that promote the health and well-being of people and the environment. Alcoa has been present for 20 years in the region, acting by means of a consistent and serious policy in these three areas
