For students from schools in the vicinity of the plant

Educational games workshop
In this workshop the theme is the fauna and flora of Maranhão. Over a six week period, with guidance from monitors, pupils prepare an educational game, making up their own rules, questions and answers.

Environmental workshop
Over seven weeks park monitors provide pupils with information about the flora of Maranhão, emphasizing its economic, cultural and above all ecological importance. In the Environmental Workshop participants develop experiments that are applied as an initiation to science; they also learn techniques for cultivating plants.

Handicraft workshop (waste recycling and reuse)
Lasting 10 weeks students learn techniques for reusing solid waste, take part in talks and produce handicraft items using a totally sustainable natural fiber that grows in the wild as a raw material, as well as PET bottles and other recyclable waste.

Paper factory
In this program students learn techniques for recycling paper by hand and produce decorated items using recycled material. The program lasts 10 weeks.

School vegetable garden
Professionals from the Environmental Park go to schools and prepare a vegetable and flower garden, teaching students techniques for planting and growing green vegetables. The flower garden is used as a teaching instrument for working with natural sciences in public schools. The course lasts four months and there are weekly visits to the schools.

Ecological weeks
One-off activities take place on dates that are important for the environmental, such as Water Week (preceding World Water Day, March 22), Planting Week (held in the last week in March, in a reference to Tree Week in the North and Northeast of Brazil) and Environment Week (which takes place in the first week in June, in a reference to World Environment Day).
