The ceremony was held as part of the celebrations of Itapissuma’s 26 years as a separate and independent municipality. Recognized by the IAI (International Aluminium Institute) because it presented the best safety performance in the whole of the aluminum industry worldwide in 2007. The prize was awarded during the body’s annual meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, during the first half of May. The IAI, which is based in England, is an association of 25 companies from all over the world that are responsible for more than 80% of the global production of primary aluminum.
