Alcoa received 25 prizes in 2006
In 2006, some of Alcoa’s activities resulted in 25 prizes being awarded to it in various segments. The acknowledgement, given by institutions, city administrations, publications, etc. is ratification of the Company’s commitment to sustainability. 

Institutional
The Most Admired and Ethical Companies in Brazil
The Most Admired and Ethical Companies in Brazil Prize is acknowledgement for good results related to ethics, social responsibility and financial aspects. The Company was 2nd in the metal-working and steel industries category. 

The 150 Best Companies to work for
A survey carried out by Exame magazine. The publication analyzes factors such as happiness and quality in the working environment, remuneration, benefits, career, education, health, social responsibility, leadership, satisfaction and identity. 

Great Place to Work
Great Place to Work is an award given by the Great Place to Work Institute that analyses the quality of the work-place. Alcoa was elected as one of the best companies to work for in Latin America from the point of view of honesty, credibility, respect, pride, impartiality and companionship. 

Exame – Corporate Citizenship
Alcoa won the Exame Guide to Good Corporate Citizenship Prize in the category “Values and transparency”, with the case study, “A system for listening to the public that is of interest” 

 
Alumar (São Luís - MA)
Tribute to the partnership between Alumar and CETECMA
Acknowledgement for the partnership between Alumar and CETECMA, awarded by CETECMA (Maranhão Center for Technological Training). Alumar is one of the partner institutions of the Shipyard Project and of the Maranhão Center of Technological Training, linked to the Virtual University of Maranhão (Univima). 

HSECAwards2006
Prize for the charcoal fines (ashes) recycling project, awarded by BHP Billiton in September, 2006. 

Brazilian Environmental Benchmarking
Alumar received an honorable mention for its responsible and competitive attitude, especially for its Environmental Park. The prize was awarded by the More Corporate Projects entity. 

UFMA Trophy
Acknowledgement for Alumar’s significant incentive for the development of teaching, research and specialization courses at UFMA (Federal University of Maranhão). 

Sesi Quality at Work Prize
Alcoa received the prize in the major company category because of its encouragement to companies to adopt policies that ensure harmonious and productive coexistence between employers and employees. The prize was awarded by SESI (Industry Social Service). 

Fapema 2006 Prize Trophy
Acknowledgement from Fapema (Maranhão Foundation for the Protection of Research and Scientific and Technological Development) for the support given by Alumar towards the development of its activities.

Acknowledgement from Uniceuma
Acknowledgement for the partnership between Alumar and Unicema (Maranhão University Center). Thanks from the students, professors and coordinators for the partnership, in November 2006.

Prize for the biggest organizations in Minas Gerais, based on gross revenues. Awarded by the Minas Gerais State Industry Federation, in partnership with O Estado de Minas newspaper. Alcoa received the honor as the 10th Biggest Company in Minas Gerais and the Biggest Company in the Minas Gerais Industry Sector.

Awarded by the APRH, in partnership with the Rotary Club, Sorocaba, the prize recognizes and values the initiatives of companies and entities that contribute towards a fairer and more humane society.
