The ACTION (which stands for “Alcoans Coming Together In Our Neighborhoods”) Program, which was created by the Alcoa Foundation in 2001, positions the Company among the leading corporate investors in social responsibility. The program is based on the performance of four hours of volunteer work by at least 10 of Alcoa’s employees and their families on Saturdays or Sundays. The services are provided for non-profit entities. Once the task is accomplished, Alcoa sends to institution a check for US$ 3,000 that is donated by the Alcoa Foundation.
In 2005, 32 Actions were carried out all over Brazil, totaling a grant of US$ 96,000 for the institutions.
