Now in its 12th edition, the Guide is one of the most respected in Brazil and distinguishes the sustainable operations of 21 model companies. In 2011 for the 10th time Alcoa was elected one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Brazil, in a survey carried out by Great Place to Work® in partnership with Época magazine. In 2011 for the 3rd consecutive year Alcoa was elected one of the 17 Biggest among the Best Companies to Work For in Brazil, in a survey undertaken by Great Place to Work® in partnership with the Estado de S. Paulo newspaper, in accordance with the criteria of the Great Place to Work® model.
IT Leaders 2011 – Agribusiness, Mining and Best of the Best categories
Alcoa won first prize in IT Leaders 2011, which is in its 11th edition and recognizes the work of the main IT executives in Brazil. In this award, COMPUTERWORLD and IDC Brasil indicate the IT leaders who have most distinguished themselves in the year in the overall scenario and in 16 categories, in addition to awarding a special Green IT trophy. The overall ranking is published in COMPUTERWORLD magazine.
Gold Certification in the GHG Protocol program
The certification relates to 2010 emissions. The company was audited by the Vansolini Foundation, an independent entity that ratified the greenhouse gas emission figures that were declared.
Exame’s Best and Biggest
Prepared from a database of more than 3,000 accounting statements, the ranking is based on a survey carried out in regional and sectoral segments and lists the 500 biggest companies in activity in the country by sales. Then the biggest and best companies in each of the most representative sectors of the Brazilian economy are identified. In the Steel and Metal-working sector assessment the company came 11th.

13th Brazilian Mining and Metal-working Industry Prize for Excellence – Industrial Maintenance category
Awarded by the magazine, Minerios&Minerales, the unit received the prize for the excellent results obtained with the introduction of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM ), which is an industrial maintenance program that aims to reduce breakdowns in equipment, work-related accidents and, as a consequence, maintenance costs.
