Global initiatives

Alcoa Foundation has partnered with institutions and projects worldwide. See the initiatives taking place in Brazil:

The Alcoa Foundation has a partnership with the Earthwatch Institute. In this program, company employees worldwide have the chance to take part in research into climate and sustainability in different places on the planet, the idea being to understand current problems better and the possible solutions for any doubts relating to the topic. After the expeditions, participants prepare a project for application in the community. They also share their knowledge and experiences with other employees.
Girls Scouts
The Alcoa Foundation invested US$ 1.5 million over a two-year period for expanding the Girl Scouts Program to 20 countries. The objective of this initiative is to raise questions that have to do with the environment, such as waste reduction and energy conservation, and encourage families, schools and communities to improve the environment and protect natural resources. In Brazil, this initiative supports the Bandeirante Center - Granja Julieta.

Engineers Without Borders
The Alcoa Foundation supports this program, in which engineering students from all over the world find solutions to problems that affect less privileged people and communities. Two projects are being supported by EWB in Brazil, both of which are being developed at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV–MG).

The Nature Conservancy
As part of the Nature Conservancy's Plant a Billion Trees Campaign, the Alcoa Foundation supports the Atlantic Rain Forest Reforestation Program with a US$ 200,000 donation.
