Flexible Spending Accounts


Flexible spending accounts (FSA) help you to save money on your eligible health care and dependent care expenses. That's because the money you contribute to these funds is deducted from your pay before taxes. And, when you file a claim for reimbursement, the money repaid to you is also not taxable.


Alcoa offers employees the opportunity to participate in two flexible spending accounts:

  • Health Care Fund Flexible Spending Account can be used for many out-of-pocket medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision expenses for you and your eligible family members.
  • Dependent Care Fund Flexible Spending Account can be used to cover the cost of care for your dependent children under age 13 or adult day care while you (and your spouse, if you're married) work or attend school full time. Dependent Care FSA funds can only be used for child or elder care. Funds cannot be used to pay for a dependent’s health care expenses.
