Newly Built Greenhouse

On Friday March 23 an official ceremony took place to open a newly built (used) greenhouse and recognize the staff, volunteers and workers of 'VZW De Wroeter'. This Kortessem (Belgium) based NGO improves the quality of life of people with physical and/or mentally challenges through providing them with simple work in a botanical garden. The 'De Wroeter' team grows crops in a sustainable way, without any pesticides, artificial fertilizers etcetera. The Alcoa Foundation has supported the great work of VZW De Wroeter with a $ 15,000 donation which was used to partially finance the greenhouse and a sustainable irrigation system as well as trainings for the workers. During the ceremony both Alcoa (Foundation) representatives from the Alcoa Service Center Belgium location as well as local and regional Government officials praised the project and the overall work of VZW De Wroeter.
