Alcoa Foundation is a nonprofit U.S. corporate foundation. Its mission is to actively invest in the quality of life in Alcoa communities worldwide. Throughout it history, Alcoa Foundation has been a source of positive community change and enhancement, with over US$490 million invested since 1952. The Foundation donations are oriented toward worldwide and local needs in areas of interest, such as “Sustainability and the Environment,” “Worldwide Education and Workplace Oriented Training,” “Cooperation between Company and Society” and “Safe and Healthy Children and Families.” The Foundation manages Alcoa’s Action! and Bravo! programs, with which employees can "earn“ donations for the organizations where they do volunteer work. In 2008, the Alcoa Foundation spent 3 million dollars in Europe, including approximately $ 60,000 in the Netherlands. With the help of the Alcoa Foundation, Alcoa Architectuursystemen supports various organizations and projects in the local Harderwijk Community.
