Save water, save money - Here are a few tips on how to have water wise ways
IN THE HOME
- Reduce your shower timer, use a 4 minute shower timer.
- Fit a 3 “Star” 9 litre per minute shower head.
- Collect the cold water as it warms up and use this on you garden or indoor plants.
- Check for dripping taps and fix them this will save thousands of litres of water per year and save money.
- Installing tap regulators will reduce the amount of water used, create softer water with less splashing.
- Keep drinking water in the fridge. Instead of letting the tap run to get cold water in summer keep a jug full in the fridge.
- Run your dishwasher full and when buying a new one look for a 4’Star” rating, they use as little as 15 litres per wash, older models use 40 litres per wash.
- Washing machines can use a lot of water as well only run when you have a full load. If updating look for the Water Efficiency Label that has the most “Stars”. Conventional washing machines can use up to 60 000 litres of water per year. Water efficient washing machines can use as little as 25 000 litres per year.
WATER WISE REBATES
The Water Wise Rebate is part of the State Government’s Water Strategy Incentive Program. Through this program rebates are available for a number of items in and around the home. Conditions do apply.
