Alcoa an Export Winner

Alcoa of Australia won the WA Section of the Australian Export Awards in the Minerals and Energy Export category on Friday 2 October 2009.

Executive Director Kim Horne accepted the award on behalf of Alcoa at the awards ceremony at the Hyatt in Perth on Friday night.

“Congratulations to everyone at Alcoa who has contributed to our export success over the past year.  This award recognises our continued commitment to servicing our customer needs, as we persevere in challenging times.
“This is the second year in a row we have won the State awards and again puts us in the running for the National awards in November,” said Mr Horne.

The National Export Awards will be presented by the Prime Minister in Canberra on 20 November.

Alcoa operates the world’s largest integrated bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and rolling system in Australia.  It produces almost 50% of Australia’s alumina and 30% of its aluminium. Alcoa is one of Australia’s leading exporters, contributing almost $5 billion in exports each year, and accounting for around 5% of WA’s exports.
