Project commences commissioning phase

The construction of Portland Aluminium’s new Green Mill Fume Treatment System achieved a significant milestone prior to Christmas, with the project commencing its commissioning phase.

Operations Manager Mr John Osborne said the fume treatment component and approximately one third of the collection system was now operational.

“Following the new year break, the remaining collection system will be progressively installed and by late February the complete system will be fully operational.”

Mr Osborne praised the contractors involved in the planning and construction of the project.

“Local contractors, Keppel Prince and Days Electrical along with Project Manager Worley Parsons have safely and successfully worked together as a team to reach this critical milestone.”

“The treatment plant is one of very few key capital works projects we have constructed this year and will play an important role to continue to reduce emissions,” Mr Osborne said.
