Alcoa of Australia’s three Victorian sites this week hosted a group of engineers as part of Victorian Engineers Industry Week.

The tours gave an insight into an engineering career with Alcoa, opening the eyes and aspirations of more than 30 engineers. Alcoa’s Victorian Operations Engineering and Reliability Manager Warren Sharp said the tour of the Alcoa sites provided a great opportunity to our future generations of engineers. “We value the opportunity to provide information of what we offer engineers in terms of a career, and we certainly want to encourage budding engineers to take the path to develop their skills and capabilities,” Warren said. “The tour provided details of various engineering streams available at Alcoa, from mechanical, electrical, civil and environmental.” The tours are part of this year’s Victorian Engineering Industry Week campaign (21-25 September), one of the largest annual events on the engineering calendar, which celebrate the state’s engineering capabilities and achievements by highlighting the contribution engineering makes to our way of living. Victorian Engineers Campaign Manager Noel Dos Santos said the week-long campaign is a fantastic occasion to celebrate local engineering leadership in business, innovation, environment and community through a variety of events and activities. “This campaign offers a rare opportunity to interact with the world of engineering,” Noel said.
