Portland Aluminium contractor changes

As part of Portland Aluminium’s ongoing program to reduce costs, the company today announced changes to its contractor structure.

Portland Aluminium Operations Manager John Osborne said the contractor consultation process commenced in May, working to achieve our 10-15 per cent cost saving and sustainably repositioning the business for the long-term.

Mr Osborne confirmed certain areas of the restructure, this included:

• Keppel Prince has been selected as the preferred supplier for mechanical and electrical services, including special vehicles.

• Current contractors, PT Engineering and Silcar, will continue until their current contracts expire.

• Further work is being done for the remaining contractors and announcements will be made in coming weeks.

”After a rigorous review of our contract structure, we have made decisions that will ensure that we are sustainable into the future.

“We will be working with the contractors involved to ensure the transfer of responsibilities have minimal impact on our operations,” Mr Osborne said.
