Alcoa's response to RET legislation

Alcoa believes the improvements made during the passage of the Renewable Energy Target (RET) legislation are recognition that the design of such schemes is critical in maintaining the international competitiveness of emissions intensive trade exposed (EITE) industries like aluminium.
Legislation such as the RET and CPRS will impose significant additional costs on EITE industries that cannot pass these costs on to the international marketplace.
We will continue to work with our local members and other Parliamentarians in an effort to ensure that this recognition continues in the debate over the over the CPRS legislation.
Alcoa continues to support the introduction of a CPRS that delivers greenhouse reductions and does not compromise Australian jobs.
