Alcoa Rolled Products Yennora supports Bandaged Bear Day

Alcoa Yennora’s employees raised over $1,500 for Westmead’s Children’s hospital annual Bandaged Bear Day on Friday, 27 March.

Alcoa volunteers were at Merrylands Station on Friday morning selling bears to eager commuters on their way to school and work.

John Costley, Site Manager at Yennora, said it was great to see so many employees rising early to catch the ‘rush hour’ to raise funds for one of our most worthy charities.

"Volunteering is part of the Alcoa culture and apart from the great satisfaction it brings it also helps support the local communities in which we operate,” he said.

Alcoa volunteers also helped out at Liverpool and Campbelltown stations. Money was also raised by hosting a lunchtime barbecue at the site where everyone who came made a donation to the hospital.

“While supporting Westmead Hospital is part of our ongoing commitment to Safe and Healthy Children and Families, this is the first time we’ve sold bears at train stations. As everyone had such a great time I hope we can make it a regular event on our volunteering calendar,” said John.
