Update on Point Henry’s Carbon Bake Upgrade

As previously reported Alcoa Point Henry’s $89m carbon bake upgrade was completed on schedule and commissioning commenced on 2 November 2007.
The project included the installation of a new fume treatment centre called the carbon bake scrubber.
To further increase the reliability of the scrubber, a 36-hour shutdown has been planned to undertake key improvement and maintenance tasks in a safe manner.
The shutdown will take place between 5am Tuesday 13 May and 5pm Wednesday 14 May.
There may be some visible emissions from the Bakes area over this period.
The Victorian EPA has approved this planned event.
