Update on Point Henry’s Carbon Bake Upgrade

As previously reported Alcoa Point Henry’s $89m carbon bake upgrade was completed on schedule and commissioning commenced on 2 November.
On Monday 25th February an unplanned scrubber outage occurred in the carbon bake area, lasting for 7 minutes and 43 seconds.
The cause of the scrubber going into bypass has been investigated and determined to be a problem with the system program control logic.
The issue was rectified and corrective actions have been implemented. We will continue to explore other opportunities in the control logic to ensure our systems are robust and to prevent any reoccurrence.
The Victorian EPA has been advised of this matter.
