Update on Point Henry’s Carbon Bake Upgrade

As previously reported Alcoa Point Henry’s $89m carbon bake upgrade was completed on schedule and commissioning commenced on 2 November 2007.
On Wednesday 9th January an unplanned scrubber outage occurred between 2.17pm and 2:28pm.
The scrubber went into bypass when it detected a low bake outlet pressure during testing that was taking place as part of the investigation into a previous scrubber outage.
A full investigation is currently underway to ensure that all issues have been completely resolved and corrective actions have been taken to address all areas of concern.
The Victorian EPA has been advised of this matter.
