Update on Point Henry’s Carbon Bake Upgrade

As previously reported Alcoa Point Henry’s $89m carbon bake upgrade was completed on schedule and commissioning commenced on 2 November 2007.
On Thursday 3 January an unplanned scrubber outage occurred between 11:27am and 11:53am.
The scrubber was placed into forced bypass when it tripped out on low voltage however operations staff managed to restart the scrubber and stabilise it.
A full investigation is currently underway to ensure that all issues have been completely resolved and corrective actions have been taken to address all areas of concern.
The Victorian EPA has been advised of this matter.
