Alcoa of Australia has been inducted into the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame

The Manufacturing Hall of Fame showcases locally-based manufacturers whose innovative and sophisticated solutions to global manufacturing issues have made them world leaders. Commenting on Alcoa’s induction, the Minister for Manufacturing and Export André Haermeyer said ““All the Hall of Fame inductees have played an important role in contributing to the Victorian economy, and should be proud of their achievements.” Alcoa of Australia’s CEO, Wayne Osborn said “This is a great honour for Alcoa’s Victorian operations, not only because our contribution to manufacturing excellence in Victoria has been recognised, but so has our broader contribution to the Victorian community and economy. Alcoa directly employs 1,800 people, mostly in regional Victoria, and as a company we spend around $600 million per year in the State while producing six per cent of State’s exports.” “Importantly, Alcoa is a leader in environmental management, and we pride ourselves with being at the forefront of innovative and sustainable environmental practices,” Mr Osborn said. Background
The Victorian Government established the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame in June 2001 to celebrate manufacturing excellence in Victoria. The Hall of Fame showcases locally-based manufacturers whose innovative and sophisticated solutions to global manufacturing issues have made them world leaders.
The Victorian Government, in partnership with the Manufacturing Industry Consultative Council, selects individuals or organisations that have made outstanding contributions to sustained manufacturing excellence in Victoria for inclusion in the Manufacturing Hall of Fame.
The Manufacturing Hall of Fame focuses national and international attention on the depth, breadth and quality of the world-class goods available from Victorian-based manufacturers.
