Kids in Foster Care from Mandurah and Pinjarra were in for a treat when they visited Alcoa’s Pinjarra Refinery last week. For the second year in a row the Refinery hosted a Christmas in July Morning Tea, complete with a visit from Santa and entertainment from magician Mr Fumbles. 70 children along with around 45 carers descended on Pinjarra Refinery with Armando Torres, Refinery Manager hosting the group which stems from a partnership between Alcoa and the Department for Child Protection. Each year the Refinery funds a Christmas Party for the children in December which is organised by the Agency as well as the Christmas in July function. Clare Malone, Senior Officer Care Services for Department for Child Protection said that it was a hugely successful morning, and so lovely to see the children enjoying themselves and mixing well with each other. “The balloon swords were a great hit and the foster carers said how much they appreciated Alcoa putting on such an enjoyable morning." Shire of Murray Councillor Wally Barrett and member of Alcoa’s Community Consultative Network assisted by playing Santa.
