Alcoa would like to hear your views on the future of Point Henry 575

Alcoa of Australia today launched a community engagement process to help shape Alcoa’s Master Plan for its 575 hectare site at Point Henry: Point Henry 575, the next generation.

Alcoa Director of Asset Planning and Eastern States John Osborne said the community engagement program will enable community and stakeholder input into creating a Shared Vision of what future success looks like for Point Henry 575.

“The Shared Vision will incorporate themes that become the key guiding principles for the creation of the Master Plan for the site,” said Osborne

“As most people are aware, the decommissioning and remediation of the 575 hectare Point Henry site is already underway. In parallel with the environmental site assessment and decommissioning activities, Alcoa has commenced long-term land planning for the site.

“A good master plan makes sense. It acknowledges both the opportunities and the constraints of the land, and considers community and stakeholder aspirations.

“Alcoa is pleased to continue its long history of engaging with the Geelong community. We firmly believe that through the creation of a Shared Vision for Point Henry 575, we can achieve an outstanding outcome for Alcoa, Geelong and the region.

Alcoa is confident in its comprehensive approach to prepare Point Henry 575. It is expected to significantly inform the State Government's Moolap Coastal Strategic Framework Plan. The engagement process for Point Henry 575 will include talking to the community and many stakeholders, including the Geelong Authority.

At the Point Henry 575 launch, hosted in partnership with Committee for Geelong, Alcoa’s Pt Henry & Anglesea Asset Manager, Warren Sharp, outlined the full process that is expected to take between 3 to 5 years including physical decommissioning, the environmental remediation plan and long-term land use planning, all of which are interrelated.
