message from alan cransberg, managing director, alcoa of australia

What a month! October is our annual worldwide volunteering focus, Month of Service, when our people get out into their communities and make a positive difference.  By month’s end, Alcoans in Australia will have donated more than 4600 volunteer hours to community and not-for-profit groups – a fantastic effort and one which is reflected at all our sites around the globe.  See what our Aussie Alcoans have been up to below!

Also this month I showed Alcoa’s new global Chief Operating Officer Chris Ayres around our world’s best facilities in Victoria and WA, I’ve addressed CEDA’s (Committee for Economic Development of Australia) WA Resources Overview talking about the important future of the aluminium industry in Australia, I met with the CEO Institute and the AICD (Australian Institute of Company Directors) to share our story and our vision for the industry in Australia, and we marked a shipping milestone by celebrating the 4000th ship to be processed since our Bunbury Port facilities in WA opened in 1976. And of course I’ve done my bit volunteering.  A great month.

Importantly, Alcoa Inc released its Q3 results recently with all things slowly moving in the right direction. Read full results here.
